"Last Sunday (12 October) marked the Yale Club of Georgia's first year in charge of the annual All-Ivy Polo Tournament at Chukkar Farm in Alpharetta. It was a HUGE success. Kudos to Mike Eastman for organizing it! The Yale Club reluctantly took it over with Mike coordinating the logistics. We were worried about the financial risk because it was difficult to gauge our cash outlays against the potential gate receipts. The last thing we wanted was to lose money. Fortunately Mike found a corporate sponsor (UBS) to defray some of our up-front costs, plus they provided beverages. They gave a tasteful presentation, and everybody enjoyed the free drinks.

In addition to the polo action, there was a petting zoo (very cute) that attracted a lot of families to the event. Also a water company handed out free samples of Vitamin Water. All in all it was a carnival atmosphere, complete with barnyard animals wandering about. (Did I really see a small pig nuzzling the flowers by the clubhouse?) If Alpharetta is within striking distance for you, please plan to attend next year. This is a unique event.

The weather was just about perfect and we had 177 paying guests. This doesn't include children, event volunteers, polo players, and their families. So we had well over 250 people of all ages representing many colleges: just about all the Ivies plus Bucknell, Bowdoin, and others ...Most of all, congratulations again to Mike for bringing off this event in spectacular style!"

"I really enjoyed working with TeamIvy and I look forward to many more polo events. You are an excellent leader and executer.

Jack Cashin, Owner, Chukkar Farm

"We were pleased with the high turnout at President Levin's reception and were delighted to see so many familiar faces. It was a pleasure for us to work with Club leaders, particularly President Andy Dickerson, who worked extremely hard on this event, and Mike Eastman, whose last-minute push led to a jump in attendance. We look forward to working further with the leaders and with Yale alumni in the Atlanta area."

Assistant to Yale University's President Richard Levin on his recent visit to Atlanta

From the Harvard Club of Atlanta's November 2008 newsletter:

"You must have noticed the incredible lineup of activities the Harvard Club has been presenting over the last few weeks. In September we had a kickoff party with more than 100 attendees. In October we had a well attended Presidential Candidates' Forum during which the similarities and differences between the policies of the two candidates were clearly articulated by representatives from both parties. We have had, and will continue to have, discussion groups on the Justice Online seminar webcast from Harvard. We have teamed up with TeamIvy to co-sponsor various events including the polo match at Chukkar Farm."
